Specific Things

It's great to be a tall woman. One advantage is that men are threatened and stay away. One disadvantage is being unable to blend into a crowd and always being stared at. When I lived in San Francisco, I also was mistaken for being a drag queen by Asians, Latinos and ignorant others who think women only grow up to be 5 feet tall.

At 6'3", I am tall, but not the tallest woman in my own family. I have an aunt who's an inch taller. My sisters are 6'2" and 5'10", my mom's only 5'8". That makes her the shortest person in my family.

I like that I was forced to find comfort with myself at an early age. I was 5'11" at 11 years old. I had many years of harassment and unpleasantness that made me retreat into books even more deeply than before I grew. This helped me develop my mind and I took comfort in knowing I was becoming educated. I'm sure this helped lead me into becoming a professor. So, I am glad for my height.

It's hard to find fashionable clothes. This is frustrating as most runway and fashion models are also tall. But most of them are very thin and real women have curves. Thankfully, there are catalogs. The clothes cost more, but it's worth it.
