Several months ago I was running errands with my girlfriend. We went to longs drugs and bought some stuff. As we were walking back to the car I noticed a dollar bill laying on the ground in the middle of the parking lot, it wasn't near a car or anything. I immediately bent over to pick it up, when I did I noticed it was not a dollar bill but a $100 dollar bill! I said to my girlfriend, "whoa," and showed her the bill.
Instantly a middle aged lady I didn't hear approach said "is that $100 dollars? Yeah, it's mine."
"Oh," I responded and gave her back the money. I didn't even think about it.
"I was in longs and realized I didn't have my cash so i was coming back out to find it." Then she got back into her car which was parked fairly close to where I found the bill.
Shitty, I thought as we got back into my car. I sat there for second wondering if the money really was hers or if she was just a quick thinking opportunist. The money was close to her car. She did know it was a $100 dollar bill. She didn't have any merchandise from longs. But why didn't she go back into longs to do her unfulfilled shopping?
